lift pump for 12v
im putting more fuel out my p pump on my 97 cummins and im always hearing about how lift pumps are essential for the 24v but i did a quick look on ebay and there are only stock lift pumps for the 12v. is it not as esential for the 12v to have a performance lift pump? if i should get one, who makes a decent pump to fit my truck.

The lift pump on a 12 valve is mechanical, not electrical like the later 24 valve lift pumps. You can get a lot of power out of a 12 valve using the stock lift pump.

Just put a new one on because of an air leak in the old one, unless your making over 700hp the stock one is the way to go.

The stock mechanical pump should flow enough for 6-700hp. its the stock canister style fuel filter thats going to limit you. Get rid of that and your good.
