Transmission & EGT normal Temps?

What is normal operating temp range for the 48RE tranny and your EGT? The highest I have seen mine run is 140F. The highest EGT has been 800F. Do these temps seem reasonable or are my gauges off.

Thanks.

Is the truck stock, and what year? I assume 04-07.

If your temp sender is in the trans pan, that is a normal reading.

Is your pyro installed pre turbo or post?

The truck is a 06, stock. The previous owner installed the gauges. I know the trans temp sending unit is located at the rear right side just above the pan. As for the pyro I will have to check the location.

I would bet the pyro is post, mounted in the downpipe. If so, you add roughly 300* to the reading.

Checked pyro location last evening. It is mounted in the elbow behind turbo.

Yep, that would be post.

So your readings are in the ball game.

i installed the pyor pre turbo and was actually suprised at how hot my truck runs.
between 700 - 900 degrees usually. if i romp on it, it runs up to 1000 - 1200 degrees
pretty quick.

read on here that its normal for cr trucks to run a bit hot, but never realized the temp fluctuated so much.

thats about how mine is running and the tranny gets right up next to 180 under most circumstances. i use the test port on the passenger side for it.

Thanks to everyone for your replies, it is good to know that my temps are well in the normal ranges. As a note before shutting down I always idle until EGT gets down to 300F. This maintains lube to the turbo bearings while rpm's are still high. The main reasons for turbo failure are lack of lube to bearings and foreign objects contacting the turbines.
