hurt turbo

hey, one of my buddies was gonna do a pyro on his 2003 cummins 6spd with a bully dog power pup, so i told him to drill it right in front of the turbo, and it drilled it right in the top of the turbo!! so he tried to start it and oil came pouring out, so he tapped it and put a bolt in it, but now, he said he has no power anymore!! will he need a new turbo now, because wont that sieze the turbo without oil flowing through it?

Dumb question, but is it possible the bolt is to long and is against the shaft holding it from turning? Have your buddy pull the intake off the turbo and back off the bolt a little and see if it spins.

I would think the shavings from the drill & tap in the housing might not be a good thing either. But they are in the bottom of the pan now!

Ditto that. Any shavings from drilling probably dropped right into the top of the bearing housing. Tolerances are tight in there and I would imaging the bearings were shot the first time he spun that turbo up. Definitely gonna be a costly boo boo. He could probably pick up a used stock turbo for just a couple hundred bucks on e-bay. Also check the classifieds on all the diesel forums. There are usually a few used ones to be had at any given time if you look around.
