wow. daddy likey that 2nd gen. for 10 k thats pretty slick. the only thing left to do on that it sounds like is a set of injectors and then put a good clutch on it. i like my 2nd gen but if a CR came along i'd jump on it. the interiors are nicer. and it seems like there is alot more aftermarket support. not only in performance but also in exterior mods. but look at it this way. you can jump in at about half your original budget, with most of the mods already done that you talked bout. that seems like a really good option. i would go check it out.

oh yes, dying. not meaning just after market, but most of the second gens are in poor shape now a days. But seeing as he was in to the mods, ask him what all he has done to it etc.

alright, im bummed a little. this truck is mostly stock. it only has exhaust and a fass. it does have a nice 4" lift (no spacers, just springs) with wheels and tires as you can see. this truck is almost immaculate. paint and body is wonderful, along with the interior. BUT it has a D@#$ed cracked 53 block that has been patched. he said he would give it to me for 8600. is it worth it considering having a new block put in will be 3 to 4 thousand more??

the guy selling the truck knows a shop personally that will swap a block for about 2600 parts and labor, so ~11,300k for a nice truck with a new block......

if you have the funds available to drop that much extra into it, and if its clean enough that you would plan on keeping it long enough after you fix it to make up the extra cost. it looks pretty clean so it seems like it would be justifiable to get it fixed. plus, if you have the engine out that would be a great time to do some work done. since its sitting on the floor you could get studs and a new turbo and a new HO Vp 44. just a thought. but it dont seem like a bad price. i would ask him if he'd go to 8 flat and go from there. cuz it is a pain to go and start with a project truck.

i know it will be a pain. i asked him to take 8 but the lowest he would go is 86, i told him i would make a decision today but i dont know if that will happen. he's currently driving it like that so its not like i would have to get it fixed right away unless the block just blew apart, which i dont think that will happen.

you just have to weigh how much expendable cash you have. if you have the means to go and drop extra money on a new engine then thats fine. if not you can spend the extra money up front and get a differenet one that someone wants more money for. is there anything else on CL where you are.

yeah there are a few more but most are asking between 15 and 18......i should probably wait and spend a lil more up front, but i haven't seen a second gen. that clean in a long time.

Well the one thing about buying it and replacing the block is that you can rebuild the lower half and then you know that you have a good engine that will last. With the others you dont know for sure.
I would sure check with the mechanic first though and make sure that he will do it at that price.

well i have decided not to go this route. not that it isnt a good deal, but i dont think it is worth the hassle to me to buy a truck and take it straight to the shop for a new block. the search continues......
