Anybody know the honest RWHP of an `06 Cummins? I tow around 10,000 lbs often and would like to pump up the power with my Diablo tuner, but power limitations on my auto trans has me shaking. Seems like adding 100 HP might be the death of my tranny and I just don`t want to take the chance. So the question is, how much honest HP is stock and how much can I ad safely with just a chip? My towing is mostly Florida and lower GA. Thanks.
not to sure what it is but i toasted my stock tranny with my smarty on level 5, and i think thats 90hp..... and you might get kinda hot towing with it turned up. Do you have gauges?
If you haven't change out your valve cover, it says 315hp(i think). It is somewhere around there. I have my edge juice sitting on level 3 (an added of 80 hp) most of the time, but every once and awhile i like to fog for bugs:w:, and kick it up to level 5 which is 100hp added. I havent had any problems with the tranny so far (knock on wood), but i don't really tow anything. So just thought i would throw this out there
I saw this in a thread and maybe will a help a little.
"We also have a great baseline for a 100% stock 5.9 (610), George ran his truck 279HP"
Source: California Dyno Day Numbers| Dodge Truck World Topic Takes a few to load.
thats what i was gonna say, only about 270 give or take. But i have pulled lots of trailers with a stock dodge 6-speed, allweighing around or over 10,000lbs with no problems whatsoever.
Thanks guys, I tow just fine at 10,000, and I know that`s light for these trucks, but since I`m not running guages, I would rather ere on the side of caution. Thanks much.
get guages its not worth messing something up. and i also have a smarty and it says for an auto not to run over level 3 which is about 70 hp so be careful
it says on the block right on the driver side near the radiator there is a lil tag that says hp and torque
