Hello. I have an idea for a home-made air intake for my '91. This is what I plan to use:
1) Amsoil Nanofiber Filter
2) Will keep factory air box, but make new cover out of Lexan plastic. The new cover will have a 4" hole with steel sleeve for the filter mount.
3) Replace factory flex hose with silicone 45 degree elbows and 4" exhaust pipe
It seems like the best of both worlds. It will allow me to use a high flow filter with smooth intake hose, but will also shield the engine heat.
My only question: How much flex do I need in the hose? The elbows flex a little bit, but not as much as the factory hose. How much does the motor really flex? Any thoughts? Thanks.
