The hwy patrol can(and does) do sniffer tests on the hwy's, it's not really worth taking the chance anymore with the price difference being so small between the two. I got nailed with farm fuel in my truck years back in northern Texas. Was overloaded anyhow(that's what got me a visit in the first place) and he pulled out the sniffer. I learned my lesson!!
Not worth it bottom line. Illegal...if you get caught you will be sorry ..and you might of well just of paid the little extra road tax to be safe :thumbsup.
yeah ever thing is nuts around here my buddy got a ticket for covering a cop in black smoke the cop was pissed and came up with all these bull sh!t violations that cost hime $800
law inforsement CAN NOT just pull u over and check your tank....they have to have a reason. like speedin, no signal ,or blowin smoke on a cop.........also i believe they have to get a warrant to dip your tank.......here in philly the only way reason their checkin for the red........is if your over weight pullin loads.....and ommercial trucks ..........not daily drivers
you might want to check that rule again it is called a safety check they can pull you over for no visible offecse. I have been pulled over in the company concrete mixer at least a dozen times for "safety checks" and they had 1 ton truck with trailers pulled over for the same thing they weighed him, checked his chains, dipped his tank and let him go. same to me but I was 14,000 lbs overweight
xactly, y would they do a safety check...on a daily driver.........no loads on it.....brings no attention.........also if u de- badge .......i know i got a diesel ...i dont need to display i have one either......i beleive if someone decides to do it .....KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.......and drive normal......dont bring any attention
there was 5 officers at the safety check sight and they nabbed every truck with a diesel motor?? the 1 ton they got was pulling a empty 18 ft trailer??
We can not pull you over for just anything, I know I'm a cop. Only State Patrol here in CO can do that with commerical vehicles ONLY. The troopers in this area couldn't care less either if you have red fuel in your DD. The troopers are the only ones that have the ability to test for red dye fuel.

i dont even know if my truck can run off of it...........some people say its the same has homeheatin fuel....other say no .....home heatin fuel isnt lubricated enough to run in our trucks.........so i dont know what to think ........all i know is that until i have a RELIABLE source who can tell me i can........im doin it......its just gonna keep goin up.........it will NEVER go down........just like anything else ..people will pay thats the problem..........and it doesnt matter what it is.........corn , bread , milk, or fuel......everything is gettin crazy..........ya even got NIGERANS blastin JAPANS oil tankers........thats the next reason for it to go up.........im 35 and im sure before im gone i will see 10 BUCKS a gal
i get red dye diesel for free and i have been running it in my truck for a while now. theres no difference its just dyed red. cops couldnt give two shi*s if youre running it. just dont do anything stupid.
I tried green hydroseeder dye and it didnt work. I used to run red fuel but quit awhile back, but since fuel is $4.15 a gallon now I am going back to it.
Also how can they check your fuel without your permission or a warrant? They cant check your fuel tank for cocaine so why can they check for red dye?
In PA my best friend is a DOT officer and they do not dip the tanks. They have the Dept of Revenue (taxes) do this. Many persons who are around the farming communities need to contend with this issue. Hecks yoy cannot even take your farm truck to the market without taking the chance. I feel as it was stated the price is so close it is not worth the fine of up to $500 per gallon at a 36 gallon tank == $18000.

Tax evasion is a big thing in this country,it's how they got Cappone, wesley Snipes and red fuel users :lol3:
