Well, just wanted to say hello. I just picked up a '00 2500 Quad LB fully loaded short of leather with only 63k. Real nice truck. I am looking forward to mod'n it and dress'n her up just the way I want 'er. I havent been on the site for more than 20 min. and have already learned a ton. So thanks already to those who know more than I do about these trucks. I hope to become real knowledgable over the next couple of years as the truck progresses. I do know the first thing I am doing is installing some gauges, expecially a fuel gauge. Maybe even with a warning light to make sure I keep an eye on it. But other than that, tiem for me to sit back, read a lot and listen to all those who have come before me so I can learn more about my new truck and what to do to her. Thanks again and look forward to getting to know you all. |

I dont know if I have all my plans laid out but I have a good idea of what I want to do. I have done a lot with turbo cars so I am not completely in the dark. I do like to do things right the first time as to not waste money or time and the best way to make sure of that is knowledge. SO, I am off to read some more as I take notes of what to use and not use and what things I should be doing first. I do know that I will be adding 2 stoke oil to my next fill up.

I'm a noob both to diesels and to this forum. Been looking for a truck for a while and finally bought one today - '06 CDT Quad Cab SLT Longbed 4x4 w/automatic. It's been in my driveway less than an hour. I was actually looking at 05's because I was trying to stay in the $30k range. This one was used by Dodge Corp as a display/demo truck at an agricultural event. It had 2850 miles on it and the dealer sold it as a used truck for just over what I was looking to spend for an 05. Lucky deal I guess.Anyway, just wanted to say hey and welcome to all the other new guys. I'll have plenty of questions myself, so I'll be seeing y'all around. ![]() Russ. |

Where do the gauges mount on the steering column? Not sure what previous years look like inside but the 06 doesn't seem to have much room for gauges anywhere on the column. They'd probably be hitting my legs if I hung them underneath. I thought I saw a cluster that mounted on the post on the side of the wind shield. Does anyone know where to find a setup like that?

On my 2nd Gen I didn't want fuel coming into the cab and I'm to cheap for the electric guage so I ran mechanical pressure guage up under the hood, in between the hood and cowling so that it sits right in front of the windsheild wiper and I can see it from the drivers seat. Just leave extra hose there so that when you open the hood it just goes up with it. I used a small piece of strapping iron to attach the line to the hood.
