Feul problems???

During the past couple of weeks my truck will, out of the blue, start to lurch violently and when I try to accelerate. I have narrowed the problem by reving the engine in neutral when this happens and it sputters badly, then will act normally. The is no pattern to when it happens. I have changed the feul filter, but no change. Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to start troubleshooting myself or should I take it to a cummins mechanic to be looked at?

I am new to this. I have a couple of questions. What is the silencer ring. Where is it at and how do I remove it. What will happen if I remove it.

Feul Pressure guage

I wish that I would have paid attention to you guys when I first got my truck a year ago and got the feul pressure guage. Now recently my transfer pump did go out and the VP 44 along with it. It was $600 to replace the transfer pump and $3,300 for the injector pump (parts and labor). Ouch. ANYONE who is new to Cummins tucks should definately make the cheap investment in a feul pressure guage.

here is a question. bought my 06 3500 2 months ago and have now noticed that my coolant level is low, all the way down to the add mark. i filled it up to full with DEX-COOL 50/50 and it is still using some, not much but i can see a drop in the level. guys at work say to take it to the dealer, but wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem. my oil doesnt look milky, and i dont see any white smoke, hard to see white over the black thought. then i noticed that my dads brand new 1500 hemi is the same, it only has 3,300 miles on it. my 02 1500 never did this, so im stumped. please help.

boost levels?

what is the max boost levels on stock engines. i heard that 40 lbs. of boost is excessive even though my attitude says i get 40 lbs. when i'm trying to beat my brothers ford 6.0. for some reason i just can't catch him. he has banks intake, six-gun w/ pda, and banks exhaust.

Hello,
I overheard a conversation between two truck guys in the store. One of them went on and on about how the Dodge 2500 Diesel with the Cummins 6cyl would get between 20-25 mpg and came equipped with 4WD.

I am ready to trade in my Cherokee Sport for one of these as it gets 16 mpg on most days and has faaar less towing and storage capacity than the dodge.

On a limited budget so I can't really afford a brand new or any newer than 5 years old truck.

Is a bed shell needed for wind resistance for good mpg? I am looking for the best year/model/options that will require the least expensive aftermarket modification requirements to achieve 20+ mpg.

Any info tips or suggestions on which is the best for mpg with 4WD will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you kindly,
interested and uninformed

98 12 valve

I just bought a 98 3/4 ton ext cab 12 valve. It is aii stock except for the exuast. It has a 4" strait pipe.I want to get alot of power out of it.I tow heavy loads and have been reading articles and if I understand some of them right the high end hp is more for racing and not long tows.I am firmileir with chev 6.2 and 6.5.I had them for years and understand diesels. The cummins is all new to me and I undestand the princables but not the right combo.I don't mind spending the money to get what I want but I don't want to waste money on trial and error.I know I need a new air box and the trans needs beefing up"automatic"and larger injectors ete.Iwant a good combo.

thnk you
