If i decide to go with a smarty what transmission upgrades will I need to avoid slipping?

A converter and valve body should do the trick. Unless you rag on it on the higher settings.

On top of a TC and VB, I would suggest billet input and a flex plate.

BTW Dave's prices are on his site (clicky)

I've had mine for a couple of years. It was cheaper than they are today for sure. Shipped to Texas $5200.
