do yall change your front and rear differential oil ever. dodge says im should do it every 15,000 miles and it $125 for the front and 4125 for the rear. please let me know what to do?
I changed mine for the first time at 65k. The oil was just like new. I hardly ever tow though. If you tow I'd change it sooner.
The diffs have a reusable gasket and it's easy to change the oil. Get some good synthetic and save your self a lot of money.
i tow every weekend but it is just a 4x8 trailer nothing like a bobcat maybe like the weight of two 4wheelers.on my 07 their is one bolt do i just pump it out of their i got a little pull pump like a grease gun but it sucks out would that be ok to use.
Just my own opinion, but if u are going to the trouble to change it out, wouldn't be much more trouble to just pop the cover and let it drain. Plus u get a good visual inspection of the diff. and see if their is any debris settled at the bottom.
If you take it to the dealer for a change, 9 times out of 10 that's what they are going to do. Just comes down to whether you want to see how it looks, or just change the oil. Like said above, if its clean your probably ok to do that.

I did mine at 17,000 and they looked like there were ready to be done. I do tow 10k from time to time.
I'd do some research and do them yourself. At least the rear one anyway. Seems to me that the front was more of a pain due to how tight everything was.
If you are going to pop the covers off to change the oil, now would be a perfect time to get yourself some Mag-tec replacement covers. The have drain holes at the bottom and are VERY nice. I was a little back and forth about them because of the price, but once I got them I could see where the cost comes from. Quality stuff for sure.

I changed mine for the first time at 15k and the front was clean but the rear was very dark, that was only towing a t.t about 12x year, so now I change the rear every spring and the front every other year. It's just as easy to remove the cover and then you get to see whats going on inside and clean out the gunk at the bottom. Put in synthetic (which is what's in from the factory, I believe) and remember to put in a limited slip additive in the rear, my local dealer told me 2 in the rear diff. The synth. stuff is only about $10 quart so it's not that expensive.

No offense, but why bother changing the rear every year when you only change the front every other year. They both spin the same amount. Besides, if anything were to ever go wrong, the front is WAY more labor intensive to repair. Just my .02.
