Help to a Site Newbie--Gooseneck Setup

Happened to find this site looking for answers to a question I have. I purchased a 06 2500 4x4 last year. Great truck, it has changed my way of looking at vehicles. I am looking to buy a 40' Flat Gooseneck with a 2 5/16 setup. My truck is stock on lift, stock on wheels and will get a leveling kit next month. I have never bought a Gooseneck trailer and want to make sure there is clearence between the bed rails and the bottom of the neck. The trailer is on Ebay at this time and is hooked up to a Chevy Dually and appears to have about 12 inches between the rails and the neck. The trailer sits pretty flat in the pic and I am wondering if this trailer would still sit as good on my truck. It appears the height on the neck, in the pic, is adjusted all the way down. I am most concerned about the clearance of between the bed rails and the trailer. The trailer is a 2000 Ameritrail and I cannot tell if this trailer would work on my truck without major issues. Your help will be appreciated.

Great site and thank you,
Mike

You should be ok. I have pulled a lot of gn trailers and have never had a clearance problem.

I've never had clearance problems. I think you'll be just fine.

Seems I see so many comments about clearance issues on 4x4's I am a bit gun shy. What is the recommended minimum clearance between the rails and the neck? I would guess one would not want to go less than 6 inches, the more the better of course.

Thanks,
Mike
