New truck blues!

Well, here's the skinny. I currently own a 2004 cummins quad cab. I have enjoyed it. But it's time for a replacement. I have looked at all of the new trucks.... They are all over 45k I have settled on another cummins in a mega cab but I keep thinking that I could just buy an older truck and have THOUSANDS of dollars for one of my other projects. Any thoughts on this? And in your opinion's what are the best years of trucks? I don't pull a lot. But from time to time I'll need to pull a goose neck nothing crazy.

It really is a matter of opinion, and every one has them. I am a 24v guy and I like all the trucks from 98.5' to 07' 5.9. Single vs. DRW is up to your liking, and your needs. Here in CO you can pick up a real clean 01' for right around $12k and on up to your 06' for around $28k. What are you looking to spend, and how far are you willing to travel?

back in time for mpg's .. at 65 miles per hour loaded

i just sold an 08 f250 4x4 , 6.4, auto ,,, and bought 06 ram3500, 4x4, LB, DRW, 5.9, 6spd ,, 67k miles on it paid 29,300.00 here in fla (low supply state) .. i carry an artic fox 990s and pull a subaru forester ,, i travel approx 40k miles a hear ,, i went for mpg's and carrying capacity ... newer trucks all have emissions issues that can really impact fuel mileage if you delete the DFP and the EGR you can impact your warranty

06-07 5.9 if it was my money. If I had more than enough money and didn't have to worry about it, I'd get an '11 mega and do all the deletes before putting it on the road.
