placment and what is the best why to tee off the rear brake lines to run the brakes on the tag. my state law says anything less then 40" cinter to cinter is a singel axle so i just have to be liek 43" cinter to cinter from my drive to my tag and im ok right?

I put a drop on an 85 MACK dump truck. I got lucky and got a complete setup from a donor truck, hoses valves , controller. I just hooked it up like i took it off and had to tee into the air lines. Try to let the junkyard know that you need ALL the valves that are on the frame and hooked to the axle, as well as the cab controller...

you said less than forty inches is considered a single axel?
or closed tandem? What state are you from?
anyway, just tie your brake lines like your rear axle.
Its been awhile since a new install (and most of our drop axles are on trailers) but if irrc the air supply if from the emegicy line (well I guess it has to) just make sure you have all the solenoids, dump valves, and a down pressure valve, start low like forty psi.ive blown bags with as little 85 psi on an unloaded trailer. granted it was old but still not a fun experience.

yea, it will work the same.
all your doing is providing air to hold the axle up/down depending on which way the switch is flipped.
90% of our trailers are spring ride will air drops. just tap the tank for air, wire it, be done

how do i hook up the brake on the tag axle. i have read that you should never just tee off the rear brake lines that this could throw the brakes out of blance or something idk

If you TEE into the brakes, TEE into a main line. Try not to TEE into a line thats already been split off to one of the brakes.

^^ Agreed. Weight laws are strange in some states. Was it a single axle over load? Some times you can fudge it a little by adjusting the 5th wheel.

I only have fixed trucks, so I don't really get the 40" center.
