Why did Ford not use the DT360?

So I was bored reading stuff up on Wikipedia, and I stumbled across an article over international. It went on to describe how Ford did not use the DT inline 6 engines because they were too large to use in a pickup truck.

At this point in time (1994) Dodge was having extreme success with an inline 6 configuration (5.9 Cummins) so why would Ford not opt to use International's existing DT360? I really don't know a whole lot about the DT360, but it seems to me it would be really close in size to a 5.9 Cummins......

their could be many reasons...

IIRC, its a little heavier than the 6b, nothing that couldnt be dealt with, but just one more obsticle

Another good reason, its a wet sleeve engine. If you see the that people put into their cooling systems and lack of maintenance, i would never want to put a wet sleeved engine into a mainstream vehicle, it would cause never ending issues.
They require at least some amount of care and maintenance, which usually never happens for most vehicles.

At the same timeline, they were able to just use the 'mighty V8', which weighed less, had less potential for maintenance issues (in regards to being a parent bore block) and still produce comparable power.

They felt like a V configuration offered the customer a broader powerband at the time. The DT360 is a monster of a motor. Externally, its nearly the size of a DT466.
