Warming up tranny fluid

I don't have anywhere on base to plug my truck in so now that it's cold I start my truck in the morning and let it run while I get ready. I was told that I had to put the truck in neutral to get fluid to circulate through the trans so it can warm up too. Is this true? I'm completely transmission stupid.

Yes that is true. When I let my 07 sit for a while (3+ days), the TC drains and it won't shift into gear straight from P. It'll just sit there in D and not move until the fluid pumps back in. If I start it and put it in N and let it sit for 15-30 secs while I put on my seatbelt and wait for the wife to get it, it'll go once I put it in D.

And while not moving with it in D or N (stop light or in traffic), the tranny temps continue to rise. In P, they don't.

I never have any issues with mine in cold. I just start it and drop in drive and start my way away without any issues. Make sure the fluid is good and the filter isnt clogged (cold=thicker fluid)
