I currently own an '03 6.0 PSD and bought it new. It's on it's second set of injectors, 4th turbo, second fuel pump, and 4th EGR valve. That being said, I love the Ford body and interior. We've never had a problem there, very solid.

Now that I own a Cummins I wish I'd done my homework back in '03 when I bought my first diesel because I'd own an '03 Cummins instead of an '06 ( which I love!).

I know the 7.3 was a solid engine but after all of the issues with the 6.0 Ford lost a few customers.

To completely kill the horse the 7.3 is a very good motor. It is pretty much a T444E motor with some what different programming. You will find the T444e in heavy construction equipment, medium trucks, ambulances and school buses. I hear the international flavor of the 6.0, the VT365, is better than the PSD version of the 6.0 mostly due to its milder tuning. The jury is still out on the 6.4L.

I had a Ford 7. 3 and the engine was great, but all the other problems I had with that truck, I went back to Dodge. The only problem I had with my 93 - 5.9 was the latch broke on tailgate, and other problems with close to 100K miles when I sold it.

If anybody is interested in a great fact based search tool, try the ODI branch of the NHTSA. It can be time consuming sifting through all the data but it's unbiased and objective and allows an individual to see the bigger picture.

Cheers.

Let's just say that I got rid of a 2006 F-350 6.0 Powerstroke for a 2006 Dodge 2500 Cummins. That was my 3rd Ford diesel, my first 6.0. The 7.3's are a lot better engine by far. I was so disappointed in the '06 Ford (which I bought brand new), that I traded it in for a new '06 Dodge, and I couldn't be happier. I was a diehard Ford man, but at this point I won't be back anytime soon.

I also got rid of my 03 powerstroke and traded up to my current truck in my sig. I got rid of mine because of the leaks that the motor developed. My 03 never left oil marks on the garage floor. Although, when I would change oil I would look up at the motor and it looked as if it was sweating oil from every where. I also had a rear main seal leak that ford said wasn't there.

I liked the truck, a lot more after I put the Edge with attitude on it, but the oil leaks really made me uneasy.

I traded my 03 in on my 06 in May of last year and the 03 only had 23000 miles on it. I'm happier than heck since I got my 06 Cummins because I notice a huge improvement when towing and that was before all of my mods. The cummins motor will tow circles around my old powerstroke any day!

I don't think PS's are junk. Ford sells more Diesel pick-ups than GM and Dodge combined. I don't particularly think DM's are junk either but I'm not a big fan of GMC or Chev pick-ups.

I like my 5.9 Cummins and the Ram is the wrapper that came around it. I have to admit that I really, really like the Ford's...my brother-in-law owns one with a PS and it's a great looking truck and it's nice inside and works just like it should.

Had I gotten as good a deal on a Ford or a Chev or a GMC, I'd probably be driving one of those right now. My dream truck would be a 5.9 Cummins (or a 6.7) in an 07 F-350.

Don't listen to 99.9% of what you read on the WWW, especially the negative stuff. People who make themselves feel good by bashing everyone else always get a wide berth from me. Also, cosider if Dodge's came with PS's and Ford's came with a Cummin's, what this and all the other boards would look like and what we'd all have parked in our driveways.

Peace-Out. <Stepping down off soapbox and slipping on Nomex suit.>
Whoa Whoa Whoa! 7.3's were a solid performer and I suppose there are guys with 6.0's that treated them just fine, but I have talked to alot of guys with serious first hand trouble with those 6. oh no's. And I like my dodge just fine, but for me it's not even a question if the ford came with a cummin's and the dodge had the navistar I'd still be drivin' fords :thumbsup
:fist: Man thanks for making me think about cummins equipped fords pal
Anyway now I can't figure out if I was agreeing with you or not
Enjoy your diesel of choice
