This is gonna be my first cummins and i plan on having it for a while so but i need a little input please
first truck
1998 12v ext cab NOT 4 door 4x4 5 spd.... why would someone not get the 4 door when they could is beyond me but it is what it is. This one has 211k miles on it. A bunch of stuff done to the front end, ball joints stuff like that. Has a little rust under the drivers and pass door and a little on the wheel well just surface but still.
now the big thing about this truck is its a rebuild! .... sssoo it was written off and was a savage title but someone fixed it. The owner says it wasn't him and he doesn't know what kinda damage it was but says it drives great and has not had any problems.
He is WAS asking 9800 but got him down to 8500 but now that i found out its a rebuild i told him if i was gonna buy it, its more like 6000-6500. but he said he would have to think about it cause someone else was still interested in it.
truck #2
2001 quad cab 4x4 6 speed. 157k miles. leather nice truck ONE owner so thats really nice comes with a crappy canopy heheh i still need to find out when the v-pump was done last. Clean title.
They say the lowest they will go is 11500. But i told them i dont really wanna pay any more than 10k cause thats all i kinda have lol.... i know the 2001 is nicer but its also alot more money and has the 24v heheh. Still need to find out if its got the 53 block.
Any input would be great!!! please help a brother out thanks all
get the 98. y ou get the 12v but you get the full quad cab too. pretty rare. who cares if it was rebuilt, if the truck is in good shape now, it's not a big deal.
I wouldn't be afraid of a rebuild. Back in the day, we rebuilt plenty. They had to pass an inspection, and as for dollars, having a rebuilt title usually took $1000.00 of the top.

ya its not the quad cab its only a 2 door. they are rare but some people didnt get the 4 door... kinda weird if you ask me but ya
imho get the 24v because it has one owner and is newer.
try to get some paper work of the work he's done and find out about the 53 block.

It really just depends on what you want. Do you want to be able to switch power with the push of a button or turn wrenches. I have never had a 12v but I do love my vp truck and the 6 speed and 4 doors is nice.
there is a big price difference and the whole 12v vs 24v.... but i hear as long as you get a fass or air dog on there you shouldnt have as many problems.... but ya its like another 50% more money for the 2001
I agree get the 24 valve and first investment is a aftermarket lift pump like the airdog or fass better to be safe. . 24 valve for sure...im sold on her
