Allright guys, I have been looking at buying a turbo back exhaust for my truck. I'm having a hard time deciding between a 4" or 5" exhaust. I'm not going stacks because I need my bed as a trunk with a topper. I'm planning on upgrading the fuel system and injectors soon (60 hp) and buying a Intake.
Manly as a tow rig I'm looking to keep the truck reliable and cool, I'd like to know how much cooler the EGT's will be with a 5" over a 4" system? I'm also buying a coolez mega mouth turbo elbow.
go with 5". my MBRP 5" is actually 4" untill it gets next to the trans, then bells to 5". bigger the better as i see it. less backpressure for the turbo means easier breathing.

X2. I have a 5" cat back straight piped and it has a mean growl. My friends and family say they can hear the truck coming and going form a good distance. I love it. Cant go wrong with a 5” or bigger exhaust. :thumbsup

You will get a different sound out of a 5", but you aren't going to get any performance benefit - EGT's or HP - from a 5" over a 4" unless you go up into the 600HP range. If you are going to drive it as a tow vehicle, I would consider adding the flow thru muffler so you don't get the droning you sometimes get from a straight pipe..

Thanks guys for your opinions, I'll definetly getting a 5" with a muffler. I'm sure no muffler is sweet for driving around town but I can't handle the drown on 1,000 mile trips every few weeks.
i guess it will help a little bit, but the way i look at it is the grid heater makes for more a restriction then the elbow. i say spend that money elsewhere

I guess I'll strap my truck to the dyno with both parts? The stock elbow looks pretty small!
