Fuel Heater Delete

So my fuel heater went out on me and was wandering if i could just remove the bolt holding it in remove it and replace the bolt. Another problem is i have a fuel line leaking back by the fire wall. Im new to diesel but it seems to me like it would only be 2 lines back there. The biggest problem is getting to them since they seem to be behind the fuel filter. Is there an easy way that i could remove it to make access to the fuel lines a little easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
