Question Engine monitoring without performance upgrades (new 6.7)

It's almost time to start towing with my 2007 (6.7). I want to get some gauges, but reading about all the monitoring you can get with something like the Edge.........it just makes sense to pay $300-$400 for something that can monitor 4, 6, 8 different parameters. The kicker is that I don't want to void my warranty by changing any programming........and as it sits, this thing runs great without any. Does anyone know where (or if) I can get something like this? I looked through the vendor section and didn't really see anything. Or, if anyone has any other ideas, I'd welcome that.

Thanks,
Randy

I think there are monitors out there that don't necessarily require use of the chip. I'd be interested in some solutions too, 'cuz I'm wanting to monitor parameters without voiding my extended warranty.

If you want a MONITOR you can get a Quadzilla...no programming/chipping with that and it monitors many parameters. Otherwise...gauges are all I know of.

The Commander will work and believe it or not we should have the 6.7L stuff up on the website pretty quickly.

You will need to buy a normal Commander and then most likely you will need to download the 6.7L update as well as the addendum to the instructions.

I'll be giving quadzilla a call today to find out more. Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

I enquired about the QZ Commander yesterday but ran into resistance. I told the guy at the store that I only wanted the monitor, no programmer or chip and asked if they could install it for me. He said they couldn't because of voiding the warranty. This doesn't make sense as it wont change any of the stock programming. I just want to see what is going on and be able to monitor various paramaters. Even the service manager at our local Dodge dealership said the gauges are a good idea. Guess I'll try another store.

Who told you they wouldn't install it? Was it a local performance shop or something?

It sounds like someone just wants to sell parts and not do any installation??

Yes, it was a local shop. I think they thought I wanted a programmer/chip set up and wouldn't install that because of warranty eventhough I told them I just wanted the commander. Either way I will look else where.

I ordered the monitor today.........although the dude on the phone told me that it wouldn't be ready for the 6.7 for "a month or two". I'll just be using it for EGT for now, I guess.

It won't be a month or two! We actually have it working and running on our 6.7L. Actually I would say everything is basically done except wrapping it up nice and pretty and sticking it on the site.

I think what we were waiting on was a couple things on the 6.4L to add to the update??

Trust me, not a month or two!

That sound much more promising. I also asked him to pass on one feature that I'm sure all new 6.7 owners would really appreciate (not sure if you had planned on it or not)..........which is an indicator showing which gear the auto trans is in. I love the new transmission and love the fact I can make it a 5 speed, 4 speed, etc just by clicking a button.........but really don't like the fact that I can't tell what gear it is in at any given time.

Thanks for letting us all know about your product, that kind of customer service is a good way to start off a purchase!

Randy
