Question for the 6.7 guys

This is just a quick question regarding the DPF system. Is there an injector that shots fuel into the DPF to help with regen? My roommate says there is and i would like to know if that is true or not because i didnt think there is.

The computer commands the injectors to shoot diesel in during the exhaust stroke.
