Has anyone ever done this?

I was talking to my uncle this afternoon, we were talking about his truck. It's a 96 12v with 28x'xxx miles. His electric fuel shut off went out and insyead of him replacing it he made a bracket and installed a cable to kill the motor. He ran it thruogh the dash, pull it out to run, push it in to kill the motor.

its not uncommon for guys to do a cable shutoff...

But, keep in mind the kill solenoid RARELY is ever an issue. Its usually bad wiring (blue wire at battery, also a fusible link) or the pull relay that is causing the issue (mounted on the firewall directly behind the pump, 2 side by side, its the larger one)

Thats pretty cool, see them all the time at work on our internationals but never on a pickup. I would have reversed it though, push in to run and pull out to kill that way there is no chance of accidentally pushing it in while driving.

haha, not a big deal though, just more of a PITA! Just pull it back out and itll light up again and you can keep on truckin.

Though it does make more sense, most kill cables are pull to kill

Ithink the reason that its backwards is the bracket he made has a spring on it and it works the wrong way
