They were cheating us out of our money. I deleted all of my 6.7's and I need my trucks for work. When they break down I lose revenue and then lose money when the stealership doesn't honour the only major parts on these trucks that we all know will fail right along side their garbage front ends.
What is their next step? Massive recall on our trucks? Not likely.

If their all so bad why the hell do you keep buying them? Do you run your business the same way? Keep making the same mistake over and over?

Yes, the trial lawyers are the only ones that come out on top with class action suits. It's surprising they take time out from chasing ambulances to persue such trivial matters.

Maybe the trucks that have had illegal tuners mounted in them and their emission exhaust systems removed emit these levels of pollutants, but the us modified trucks were certified on their emissions levels!

The whole thing to start with is a sham. The increased carbon footprint when these trucks burn more fuel. Now there is hundreds of thousands these DEF containers floating around in the ditches, not to mention the wasted fossil fuels making DEF. Engines don't last as long. Everything to do with emissions ironically increased pollution and it costs the consumer. The added initial cost of a truck because of the 300lbs of metal that gets thrown into a metal bin when they fail, such as clogging of the EGR or DPF, leaking exhaust into cab of the truck because we all have seen the black soot that leaks out of the EGR system.

There are literally no fossil fuels involved in the making of DEF. There are fossil fuels involved in the transportation of it from the point of manufacture to the company that packages it or the truck stop buying it in bulk, and from there to the various retailers.

I do agree with the rest of your statement though. I'm all for going backwards to an advanced but non-emissions trucks.

I have a Chevy Cruze Diesel.

I think this is the same law firm suing Chevy for the same crap on the Cruze Diesel. Sue all of the manufacturers and see who pays up and settles.

If there was something, the EPA would have been all over them and wanting their pound of flesh like they did to VW.

If the loser always had to pay all court costs, you would not have these lawsuits unless there was a real case. Stop and go driving, who is that vague. Is that driving a mile stopping and starting or stop, start, stop, start? VW was clear, the had sorftware to manipulate the engine when being tested and when not. I see no such claims here. But if it gets me $10K back like the VW people are getting while keeping there cars, I am not going to complain.

BAM.....there ya go. And this is the reason why we have entitlement programs, and why our country moral values are falling deeper into the toilet. Narcissism and self preservation is taking over what we deem as right and wrong. But that said, if its wrong.....then no matter if you made a few bucks off of it or not.....its still wrong. Where did everyone's freaking principles go?

Impossible..... Fuels are used for everything. Deliveries to and from manufacturing and assembly, powering the facilities, making to tooling, the workers vehicles, the lights, the roads, etc, etc... Until the day when humans acquire the ability to deny the laws of physics, residual impact is unavoidable.

So mandating something environmentally friendly will always create a certain level of byproduct fuels used to accomplish whatever the "environmentally friendly" task is. Thats the stupidity behind the concept of carbon credits..... But hey, when the heck was logic ever a variable in why legislation does anything?

Is Al gore behind these diesel emission law suits.....?

According to the complaint, the affected Cummins diesel engines serve to conceal true emissions output, and in doing so cause the catalytic converter to wear out more quickly, resulting in the vehicle burning fuel at a higher rate, and often requiring customers to replace the converter after the warranty has expired at a cost of approximately $3,000-$5,000.

Affected Vehicles include the following models that are equipped with Cummins diesel engines: 2007-2010 Dodge RAM 2500 (2WD, 4WD), 2011-2012 Dodge RAM 2500 (non-SCR systems, 2WD, 4WD), 2007-2010 Dodge RAM 3500 (2WD, 4WD) and 2011-2012 Dodge RAM 3500 (non-SCR systems, 2WD, 4WD

That's a heck of a lot of plastic that's made from fossil fuel that's processed that uses fossil fuel. I wonder what emissions are being produced just for that alone? The rest stops and landfills are full of them. Is that not pollution? Just think of the emissions made to mine and smelter precious metals for the rest of the equipment under the truck.
I would like to see them strap a DPF, NOX and DEF tank under the wing on an airplane and see how reliable it is.

You misunderstood the point I was making. The poster said that fossil fuels are used in the manufacture of DEF. They are absolutely not.

There are indirect inputs of fossil fuels to the manufacture of DEF such as the construction of the facilities and infrastructure and my fuel to get to and from work for example, and there is direct and extensive fossil fuel consumption for the distribution of DEF. But there are zero fossil fuel inputs to make DEF. Your feed stock is CO2 and NH3 which will yield carbamate and urea liquor.

Just making a minor correction.

The way our government is going we will be mandated and regulated out of existence. For the "entitled" ones will be the only one on the correct side of anything.
i question though, where is the government going to get the money to give to the entitled ones if the self reliant ones are regulated away?

the country has shifted to be no better then the European past it once separated it's self from. if everyone likes the socialist ways, then why not move to Europe?
This country is a great, but most people are to money hungry and have the need or desire for everyone to be equal. so sad. no history class teach the truth.

All of this is a result of overreaching EPA regulations and what amounts to a band-aid (DPF) to try to adhere to them. It's really poor technology, and I would not be surprised to learn that all diesels which use the DPF are in violation of current EPA pollution standards.

Well by the looks of it, some of us have kind of preformed our own recall. I won't be wasting their time by taking mine in.0:)

My comment when I read the article was this - the VW buyers were looking only for good MPG and clean emissions. That's the demographic that primarily bought the VW diesel Passats, etc.

Truck owners are a different breed. I doubt anyone on this forum actually compared diesel trucks based on emissions ratings. Only a small portion even looked at MPG. For our group it was power and performance, longevity, brand, etc.

So it's a pointless CAL for a non-existent group of people.

Before we start going down rabbit holes, I suggest taking a look at who has filed the suit:

Hagens Berman

Steve Berman

2006 suit

This guy has a track record of this type of activity and even tried to sue Apple because iPod user could potentially get hearing damage from the head phones... Btw, he's also going after Audi for the same crap. He's just another opportunist fishing in the cesspool hoping to land a trophy catch.

It will be interesting to find out what the real facts are, but many of these law firms should be shut down due to their vexatious lawsuits without merit. They are, oftentimes, looking for the financial home run.

#29 ·
Agreed..... And most of their fuel is based on acquiring people who'll jump on the bandwagon in hopes of gaining ANY amount of money from the suit. Whether they care about the merit or not.....

Hopefully some judge with common sense throws this out quicker than month old milk, I wish those that brought up these suits were better held responsible for malpractice
