During the CARS program; I visited many dealerships in South Florida. All of the trucks they had, even the 3/4 tons in 4X4, were fully loaded with all the amenities you can think of. What happened to the bonefied TRUCK? I can't get a TRUCK without all the power amenities and beeps and whistles. If I wanted all that, I'd buy a Lincoln or a Caddy or a Crossover(whatever that is supposed to be)! OOOH the IFS is a better ride! Who cares! Look at what they run in the woods... it has an axle under the front! That's why I won't consider a GM. The trucks these days do get better mileage and have more power and torque, but man, let's keep a TRUCK a TRUCK! When in doubt, HIT IT WITH YOUR PURSE! It seems trucks are being made more feminine each year! WTF! What do y'all think? |

I couldn't agree more. Big trucks have become more of a status symbol than a work vehicle. Imagine how much cheaper and lighter a truck could be if it didn't have so much added in junk that a man who uses his truck to get a job done will never use. Less parts and junk = less downtime. Less weight = better mpgs.

Special order?
Dave Smith Motors had lots of work trucks when I looked into it. I needed a work truck+ so I special ordered one from them. Arrived in 28 days to my door in San Diego. Great price and service.

I would like to buy new, but that's not gonna happen! Can't afford them! They would probably be alot cheaper without all the nonsense! |

uhh... you can get a brand new truck w/ crank windows and rubber floors... OH NO, people don't want to have to lean over and crank their windows, they should have bought a cadillac!

how often do you hear of power windows or power locks going out on these trucks? ![]() not very often... and they're easy to fix... power seats? FAR more comfortable for people who aren't the standard 5'10" size... I'm 6'4", and I NEED a power driver seat in order to not hurt my legs/back on long drives! I wish my truck had rubber floor, but I could put one in if I wanted (aftermarket only, dodge didn't offer a mega w/ rubber floor)

Rubber floor covering, metal interior roof, regular cab, long box, vinyl covered bench seat, exit the truck to lock in 4x4, and metal dashboards. Yep - I told my wife the next truck is going to be just that with a Cummins - probably a 93 with stuff added. Everybody else can fight over the jap crap and wannabees.

i agree, they shoudl make it possible to order a 2500 or 3500 with base model trim but still have the cummins and 4wd. i've seen some pretty base fords with the PS in the past few years but no dodges.
