ALL Dodge Cummins use the grid heaters that I am aware of.

Nope, no glow plugs.

Just say no to plugs,
be they spark or glow it doesn't matter
We don't need trucks on drugs
Just #2 diesel and lots of clatter

Sorry, just had to write a poem I must be in an odd mood tonight

Anybody have insight on why the other brands still use glow plugs? Considering that our block heaters work so good, I don't see why everybody isn't on that boat.

Too scared of the 200 AMPs the heaters pull?

(I think that the 6.4 and 6.6 have both?)

We definitely have good cold starting diesels, I have started mine up -30 not plugged in. I wouldn't even worry at -40 if it was plugged in. I probably wouldn't start it unaided at those temps though!

man the old 7.3's are really bad about going threw glow plugs too. and they do not like to start even if pluged in. we have 2 1tons in our fire department and they just dont like to start even if you cycle a few times and pluged in in the winter.

One of the main reasons I love my Cummins. Was tired of changing glow plugs in my old Ford 6.9 and 7.3. Would go through a set a least every 6 months at $8 for one glowplug. Adds up quick.
