They are legal off road. It isnt illegal to use a licsensed truck offroad.
Thoughts?
What if you have a second computer to use when you go in for a smog check? Then you wouldnt be showing any codes or ghosts from programmers.
thoughts?
O.K. I know. That was more than 2 questions
You fail, if the truck has been modified from how the factory produced it you will fail. With the exceptions of lift kits and what not.

not what you know but who you know! ! go team go!!!

i think its dumb, becuase like twin turbo kits would help dissapate smoke more anyway, but unless you pay all of the money to make it good for them, its illegal. BS

the smoke that you see coming from stack/tailpipes ect, is not the harmful smoke. In fact that dark smoke is heavy and falls back to te ground, the major concern is the amount of NOx the truck produces, unfortunately diesel's do produce quite a bit. The question is does the DPF help the amount of NOx being released.

but thats not what they care bout. they're worried bout visisble smoke, so moving more air would help that right? does it change pollution, ... nope. but the tree huggers arent checking for that cuz they're dumb.

Leave. Sell low,buy low and save yourself some taxes and commision. If you wait for the market to bounce back, you'll just pay more for your new house.

That is my point exactly, greg said that they tested 350 trucks and it showed in their tests. So im going to run my own and see what the real deal is.

Here in Ontario Canada we've had smog test for diesels for awhile now. In around 8yrs for visual and 3yrs for snap( if that's where the put the probe in the tail pipe). Just do what ford has done, put louvers in the tail pipe to bring in more fresh air. Heard Cat has been doing this for years to pass emmisions.
Good luck with your fight!

Well, theres nothing you can do about the work you will have to do, as long as you can get around it.

Fools, they are. Our economy is in the tank, and they are killing small business. I'm about to roll up my heavy equipment business (just paid the bank off last year) and try and find something else to do. It doesn't appear to be financially sound to retrofit my equipment for the offroad emissions requirements, and I am not willing to sell my soul back to the bank in rough times like this, so my previously THRIVING business will no longer be kicking into the tax coffer.

What I did on my truck, togetaround smog laws.right after my down pipe I installed a diverter box,its what they use on big trucks with heated dump bodies.from the diverter box witch has three holes, the hole to the back I hooked up to stock pipe with the muffler. The other hole I hooked to my 6" stacks. Then I ran a pto cable from the box lever into the cab.So at any time I can switch from stock system to my open stacks,The box is easy to make also.Just like it sounds you weld a box up with the size holes you need, with a flap inside connected to an exsternal lever. If anybody is interested in making one.pm me and I try to explain it to you better or fax you a drawing.
