Yeah, your year ran clean enough to not require a cat. CARB= Ca Air Resources Board. They're the folks that are prompting the potential emission testing. They issue exceptions to some aftermarket equipment to enable that equipment to be legally used in Ca on vehicles. Everything under the hood's got to be stock for the test. The box will have to come off, then you can replace it. same with air filters etc. Bunch of junk.

Correct, any after market items IE, intake, turbo will need to have a CARB #. As of know I think the only company that has any approved item's through CARB is banks.

I would call your local dealer and ask, it may not have come with a cat but it probably had a resonator. Your dealer will be able to tell you for sure.

But a resonator or muffler are not emishions related. So it should not matter as long as it didnt come with a cat

In theory yes, but you have modified the truck with non CARB approved items meaning it will fail.

Must be stock turbo. Now if you have an HX40 it looks just like the hx 35 (just bigger) the now popular Switzers stand out like a sore thumb they look completely different even a rookie smog tester will see the brand diference

Just got back from SEMA a couple days ago. The big news is that CARB has sent out cease and desist letters to all manufacturers and also those who sell there products. They are not allowed to sell anything that "touches air, or fuel" into calif after Jan 1st 2010. Also they are not allowed to advertise these products either. At least until they get a CARB number for each item. Unfortunately Carb is broke and has layed off a lot of employees. So testing is very slow. I have had about as much as I can stand of this State. The Berlin Wall went down 20 yrs ago, and is now going up around Calif.
I have already called my state Sen to see what I can do. Maybe nothing, but I am sure going to give it a try. This means half of what I sell in this state is now illegal.

Richard from Glacier returned my call@ 7:00 pm last night(great customer service) and we discussed the upcoming regs. The way I'm seeing it is,his MK-2 filter system will render our vehicles unpassable in the eyes of CARB. Cleaner fuel=cleaner burn=green compliance(gosh I'm beginning to hate that term) but not to CARB here. Nutcases running the show.
