I am having a brain fart and can't remember where or what the name of a particular tool is, I will describe below. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It's like a big hole punch for sheet metal. You tighten a nut compressing two halves together leaving you with a perfectly punched hole in automotive sheet metal. A pilot hole is drilled first for the tool to work. I think this would be perfect for installing cab clearance lights.

TIA,
Eric

You can get them in different shapes and sizes, we just called them a pull punch. We used them for installing gauges and switches. Round ones, square, and rectangular. They do not damage a dash panel and cut a straight sided hole.
