My buddy 3 months ago, bought a 06 1ton dually KR. Today he calls me and says he has coolant coming out the front of his motor. Heck I told him he should buy a cummins when he was looking. I hate to ask this but what could it be, the head gaskets?
Well i would have to say that if he is losing coolent out of the top of the degass bottle... then headgaskets are a very good possibility. if it is just leaking it i would look on the drivers side just below the thermostat there will be a 1 1/2 inch coolent line, they like to leak. but to tell you more you are going to have to be more decriptive front does not tell much
You will rarely see a 6.0 blow a gasket. I don't care how may tecks say they do. Usually 6.0's "puke" coolant because it is being flashboiled in the EGR cooler. Or they will stretch the headbolts enough to pressurize the coolant system but not blow the gasket. 6.0's also like to "puke" when they are over filled with coolant.
But I would just tell him to take it to ford.

The company I work for has 3 6.0's all under 60k with major problems. Actually one of them has been fine but it's the only one not running a programmer. One is killing us 1500 bucks at a time every time it goes in the shop and the other one has noticeably less power than the other 2 with no problem that can be diagnosed so far.
our company has an 04 thats like that. We have spent 15K for repairs over the past couple of years. Should have just traded it in and been done with it but everytime we think this is the time it is finally all fixed. Injectors have been a big problem with it as well as the high pressure pump system leaking several times. (MAJOR LEAKS!)
Well, knock on wood but my '05 Powerstroke daily driver has 108k and no problems as of yet. Just had to have the computer flashed due to a rough sputter when cold but besides that it has never required any work.
Bringing this back from the dead with a update.
He waited so long he went past his waranty that he paid for by 3000km. Didn't know this till he got the mech to call in and confirm the claim. The quote was for 7500. He did say that was high so he wouldn't have problems with the work. I guess the heads are shot as well. I think most likely due to the length of time been driven with this problem.
Trying to talk him into put a cummins in there.
