6 speed auto in a 5.9l

I searched and searched some more and found nothing What will it take to put the new 6spd auto out of the 6.7s into a 5.9 truck I friggin love that trans...... I dont care what the cost is...

it will bolt in, you'll need an aftermarket standalone trans controller.

and then you need to find a way to program shift points and tune them so it isn't jerking and hunting for gears. I work with powertrain development engineers at chrysler and they have been through so many different control loops and shift patterns it is ridiculous. It would take probably 1000 man hours and countless miles to get it to shift even close to what it does in the 6.7L trucks.

the aftermarket trans controllers are very easy to tune. they also come with some preset settings to work with. theyre also $1500 or so.

the stock shifter should work. just might need to make a shift pattern plate, or adapt a 6.7 one.

id put a b&m or something in it.

I will say a pretty solid 450. with a PMT and MP-8 and lift pump it should be putting out about that. Quite a few running around with that setup. About the shifter, you are right, they have a cool-dude little rocker switch for up and down shifts in the 6.7 trucks. That operates over the CAN bus so I don't know how effective it would be in communicating with any afterstock controller.
