I am putting a 24 valve cummins in my 1994 GMC K3500 crew cab, I finally got started on the swap, I started about two weeks ago, it is going to be a slower process than I would like cause I only have Saturday and a couple evenings to work on it each week. But here are some starting pics with everything getting pulled out, tonight I started bolting motor mounts in so I will have pics of those tomorrow hopefully. As far as changes made so far I have changed my mind on the transmission and I am now using a built dodge 47rh instead of the 4L80E, and I am also going to use one of frozen boosts water to air intercoolers. Other than that everything is going along good.

Starting to scrape together the parts to do a 12v swap into my 99 f350. Anybody who fabbed up their own mounts have the dimensions they built them to? I've got the steel and can have the guys in the shop at work do all the cutting and welding while I keep getting the other stuff together. Figure it will save me some time when I get close to install. Thanks.

Bear with me here as I'm not too sure where to start this story..........
From the beginning is probably the best way so.......
Ever since I inherited my Dad's 98.5 3500 CTD dually from Florida with 47,000 miles, I've had an odd grin on my face and started picking out Dodge trucks at a glance.
I've been watching this '95 2500 V10 4 X 4 sit unused since last Spring and finally stopped in and asked about it. The owner told me the engine was "done" but everything else (4 X 4) worked well. I got it for next to nothing and had it flatbedded home. Within a few hours of tinkering, a couple of coffee's........I had it running with no apparent problem's.?? The A/C and CD player even work!! I put a couple of front tires on it and started looking for a plow so I could at least do my own yard and stop paying a grand a Winter.........woooooohoooooooooo.
Well, here's where it gets interesting. I came across an '89 2500 4 X 4 CTD with a '92 front clip on it. It also has a '05 Western "Boss" plow set-up that looks almost new. The owner sticks the key in and the CTD fires instantly. The exhaust pipe is rotted off just where it comes down to beneath the truck frame. Yeah, a bulldozer under full load type of sound. :drool2: nothing like Dad's 24 V ......
For a 20 year old truck, it's not too bad but not as nice as the '95 V10 so...........here's my question.
Will the '89 diesel set-up bolt in and right up to the '95 V10 set-up??? Both trucks are 2500's and 4 X 4's remember. I figure I got the '89 for about half of what the guy said he paid for the plow but it would sure be sweet to see the plow AND the diesel on/in the '95.
Other than that.............an extended cab might be the next thing to find since I'II have my butt kicked out the door if/when I drag another truck Home.:buttkick:
Thanks for reading,

I am really thinking of putting a Cummins in my 98 dodge ram 1500 4X4 with a 5.9 gas. I have so much money already tied up in my truck. Such as suspension upgrades to handle a 7 1/2' Fisher plow. And tons of electronics inside the truck. I really want to do a diesel for the mileage mainly. I believe I have the 44RE transmission and was wondering if that work or do I need to get a 47RE? Would a 4bt be enough? I plow and tow a street/strip car which the car and trailer weigh about 6000lbs.

I am rewiring my truck and am having a hard time with the turn signals, they did not work when I got it either. I have a GM tilt column. I need to know what year this column is so I can go to the parts store and get a new switch. It has the ignition switch and emergency flasher switch on the column.

while looking at videos I came across this 1970 DMC Cummins Diesel Monte Carlo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9--ISeNexM&feature=related)
It looked 100% stock, yet had the sweet sound only a Cummins can make. It was pretty cool watching it smoke its tires:headbang: There is a second video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO_kjaxIDzc&NR=1)of the car showing the engine bay with the very clean install of the '99 Cummins install, and also a short ride along. With I had the time and energy to do something like this.
And this Cummins is really wicked and nasty sounding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHsm0Tcb56Y&feature=related)

Any insite on how things went, or what components were used. Considering making the dually 4 wd instead of purchasing a seperate truck.

99+ F250 12V Cummins Swap

I just wrapped up a 4BT swap into a 93 F150. I have been very pleased with the swap and am looking ahead to my next project - a 12 valve cummins into a 99 or newer F250. In the near future, I will be looking for a 5.4 or V10 manual trans pickup in good shape as well as a good running 12 valve cummins.

Anyway, I realized that De-stroked and Ford-Cummins both have the motor mounts and adapter plates to accomplish the swap. What is the general consesus of this board, as far as the quality, fitment, and customer service of these parts? Are they more or less equivalent or is one better than the other?

Also, are there many challenges with wiring, fuel system, or exhaust/downpipe related to this swap? Just completing the 4BT swap, I have a general idea of what is required in these areas, but any specific advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Just thought I'd post a link to my build-up thread. Over the past 9 months, I swapped a 4BTA from a GM Step Van into my 93 F150.

The 4BT is an excellent fit for a 1/2 ton pickup, a great combination of power, mileage, and durability.

If interested in a detailed write-up, I posted a build thread here:

here is the truck im going to buy as soon as mine sells, it has a melted 6.0 with a 6 speed manual, what all is going to be involved in puttin a common rail into it? i would LIKE to put an automatic in it! is that possible or would that be too hard? also which transfercase should i use, the one already in the ford, or get one out of a dodge to go with the motor and trans? what all needs to be done with the wiring harness, is there a way to use at least some of the factory ford gauges? i want to make this a clean swap with a common rail and auto, will that be too hard? or should i just get a cummins that has an ecm and harness for a manual and reuse the 6 speed thats already in the ford?

Thanks,
Andrew
