Hey,

i have a 92 dodge and i have a 7pin light hookup for my 5th wheel trailer inside the box..

i am picking up a normal car hauler and want to figure out the easiest way to hookup a 7pin connector on the bumper as well.

i was also thinking of just finding an extension, that will extend the car haulers hookup, so it can reach inside the box.

thoughts?

Weight carrying or distributing? What the heck?!

Hey guys,
Here is something thats got me raising an eyebrow. Im giving up my 2008 V8 4x4 4runner to 'trade up' to a 12v cummins.

The 4runner is said to have a "weight distributing" hitch, rated at 7000lbs trailer weight, 700 tongue.

Now the little sticker on the 2500 1996 12v i got says "weight carrying = 5000# and weight distributing = 10,000#"

Well which do i have? I read the definitions of a weight distributing hitch and it doesnt seem that my 4runner even had that (2 arms that are spring loaded that spread the weight).

So what the heck do i have? Can this giant 2500 Ram only tow 5000lbs with a regular ole' trailer?

Please shed some light, and im sorry for the dumb question. Oh and, yes im 100% positive the Toyota 4runner v8 comes with a weight distributing hitch as of 2004. Its all over the manual and all over the 'net.

So I've read lots of posts about comparing 2500 & 3500 towing. If the rear axles/springs/tires are the same on a SRW why the difference in tow rating and GVW.:confused013:

The actual question I have is: Can my 2008 4x4 megacab pull a boat and triple axle trailer weighing about 16,000 pounds? Tongue weight will be about 1000 pounds. I will be upgrading the bumper hitch to handle the weight. Trailer has electric/hydraulic disk brakes on all wheels.

Am I nuts to think I can tow this boat?

I currently have 265/70/r17 stock tires on my truck with 4.10 gears. I am turning over 2k rpm @ 65. My thought was that if I went up to 285/70/r17's the extra diameter would be like changing to 3.73 and I would be less than 2k at 65 which would improve fuel mileage. Anyone here have hard facts on whether this will work?? :confused013: BTW I am using this truck to pull a 10,000 lb 5th wheel but power doesn't appear to be a problem.

I have a Megacab 2500 and want to get an Arctic Fox Silver Fox 811. The dealer (camper) says I shouldn't be hauling it with this rig without some major modifications. So, what is it gonna take? I'm assuming airbags are a must but what else?

The Dealer said it's because the center of the weight of the camper is not over the rear wheels, but just aft of them is the problem.

I'd get a trailer, but I need to haul the wakeboard boat too! Doubles aren't allowed in Oregon.

Well I finally found a enclosed goose neck trailer. Its gonna be about a 5 hour trip to go get it so I'm trying to get everything ready before Saturday morning. I got my B&W hitch in, air bags, compressor, and tow mirrors should be here by Wednesday or Thursday so all that should be good to go. Only questions I got left is the wiring and the brakes. What do I need to run a wire into the bed of my truck for the plug in? Also, the trailer i'm getting is triple axle. I've always ran double axles. I have a decent brake controller. Nothing special though. Will this work for all three axles? Just trying to make sure I have everything covered before I head to Arkansas. THANKS GUYS!

Been pulling his FFA homecoming float in 2 parades the past 2 days. the trailer is a county 20' deckover. they voted my truck looked better than the schools f350 lol. i got on it going back to the school tonite and my brother goes "Dang, It dont even feel like its back there"

we did have the biggest combo there. everyone else was using little lawn mower trailers and had maybe 5 kids on each float. with this setup i would usually be over length for downtown. I made one turn that the others where having a hard time with and the cops said "finally someone who knows how to drive" lol
