Question FASS pressure fluctuating

I have recently installed A 150/95 FASS on my 2001 dodge 24 Valve. The pressure @ idle jumps between 13 and 18 psi constantly. Just off idle or under load the pressure is fairly stable at 16 and 17 psi. I have checked my suction and pressure lines/connections and I have no leaks. What can I do to stabilize the pressure at idle? Is this normal for this system or will it effect my injection pump eventually?

I would try to put a snubber inline on your gauge tap....this is common with VP 44 truck. My gauge buzzed a lot before i installed a needle valve to stop the pressure spikes.

I would start there first.

Also, pressure jumping around like that is a sign of a electric sending unit dying. If you have an electric gague...i would double check it with a mechanical.

Hello Dan, I do have a snubber on order but I was hoping to stabilize the pressure rather than hide it or just to protect my send unit.I have checked the pressure with a mechanical gauge as well.I installed a dodge upgrade in-tank pump on a different truck two days ago and the pressure is dead steady 11psi @ idle and 8psi under load, Is there no way to stabilize the FASS system? Thank-you for your reply.
Also, any ideas on the chirp noise coming from the pump housing?

You might try drawing fuel from a bucket and see if that makes a differance or not.

As for the chirping.....does it have a frequency or it it just steady?

Hello Dan, I have placed the suction line directly in a pail of fuel, no difference. I also placed the return line in a clear jug with fuel and there are no air bubbles at all. Positive that I have no leaks. The noise that the pump makes is in time with the pressure fluctuations @ idle. Kind of a steady drone or chirp

OK....well the only thing that could affect pressure directly is the return spring and ball regulator.

Trace the return line to the FASS and disconnect it with a 7/8" wrench. There you will find the Male Flare fitting that is installed in the base of the FASS. Remove this fitting to get to the ball and spring. Pull out and inspect. Reinstall if no issues are found.

Do you have a FASS dealer near by that you could run over and have them listen to it?

Will I void my warranty if I remove the regulator? The closest dealer that I know of is a 6-7 hour drive.

Are you guy's interested in having more distributors here in Canada? I appriciate your help.

Not at all...the only way to compromise wnty on a FASS is to cut the wire seal that is on one of the T-block to Motor base bolts. Other than that….you and inspect all other aspects.

As for dealers….we have a section on our web site to apply for:

New Dealer Name

I've got an 02 dodge 5.9 cummins 6sp. 145,000 miles with a power puck. I want to get rid of the the power puck and get the edge comp or juce/attitude. When i do do i need a fass fuel pump so i dont starve the injection pump or will it be ok.

Also any preferances on the edge comp, juce or smarty. Or any other chips aroun 100 hp and up. I dont really want to stack chips due to some heavy farm use.

Best thing to do is check fuel pressure. That will tell you for sure. BUT i would go ahead a cut off the snakes head and address the issue with weak fuel pumps in thoes year trucks......you are going to do it anyway down the road...just a matter of when!
