Stock filter

I'm sure somebody asked this already so I'll accept an answer or a link to an answer with a "use the search function" type ramark, haha.

I would like to run the FASS to the stock fuel filter for a couple reasons, none of them really good, and would like to know what fittings I need to get. I havn't actually received the FASS from the UPS guy yet so I have yet to look at what fittings it comes with. Thanks
-Joe

Here ya go ...

Running a FASS with the stock fuel heater

I chose to remove the stock fuel filter for two reasons.

1. I didnt think it was nessary
2. I didn't want to have to maintain another filter
3. I didn't want to put any restrictions at all on the FASS

OK, that was 3 reasons, but you get the idea. I think the link will answer all of your questions, but if you have any others, feel free to ask

Thanks

I appreciate the reply. My not so good reasons to keep the filter are: To keep the heater, just got a shiny new cover with a tapped top to vent/install a FP gauge, and to keep the WIF sensor just in case. Like I said, not necessarily good reasons but still....

now i am rethinking my decision to get a full FASS system, i had read on a couple sites (could only find it on piers as i am posting this) that it Features: fuel pump, 10 micron filter, water seperator, includes fuel heater. kinda wanting a fuel heater was my only reason for previously wanting to keep the factory filter housing. unless piers and where ever else i read it was wrong i plan to remove mine.

By running the lines the way that I did in that link, you WILL be able to continue to use the stock fuel heater and WIF sensor. Tha only thing that I removed from the stock fuel filter housing was the actual filter itself, everything else is still there and working fine.

Got a pic of that shiny cover? I wish I would have painted mine red or had it chromed before re-installing. If I can find one from someone who took theirs off, that's what I plan on doing.

Whoa ... do NOT re-think the FASS. You'll never find a better fuel supply pump anywhere .... PERIOD

You can either run the lines like I did in the link provided above, or if you'd like the FASS actuall DOES have ports that you can run lines to from your radiator to warm up the fuel.

So you see, FASS has you covered on all bases. I just chose a different path the heat the fuel, that's all. Get a FASS, I promise you you won't be dissapointed.

Ill be honest here....unless you are stuck in -20*F for days on end....a good additive in the tank is all you need to keep the fuel from gelling....BUT i can understand running the new filter cap.....AND you can run the filter head with no issues.....you just use the fittings we supply for the injection pump and they will bolt right up to the filter head....same exact thread pitch......

I think i figured out why i was not getting notifications.....everything was going into my junk folder for CF!! I dont know why....but i think i got it back on track.....

I've kept the original factory fuel filter and run a FASS 150 pump. Works like a charm for me.

Diesel Dan says it best tho..

Did you add the new email addy to your list of contacts, I had the same issue with not getting notifications.
