Swirl Marks

My truck is a metallic black, i bought it from a dealer and someone (inexpiranced) had already had at it with a buffer. Of course its black and after i wash it, they are pretty noticable. Whats the best way to get rid of them. Should i get some swirl-eez and re-buff the truck out, or is their an easrier way?

Im not sure what swirl-eez is but I woudlnt try it, lol. A good polish + buffer will take it out. proper washing technique will keep them away, or atleast keep it to a minimum.

Menzerma SIP w/ Lake Country CCS Orange Smart Pad.

Followed by Menz FP w/ Lacke Country CCS White Pad

Top it with your favorite LSP ...

Use a two bucket method when washing to keep things to a minium ... or invest in a foam gun

A foam gun puts foam on the truck right out of the hose. no bucket to mess with. Acheap man's gun is to spray your water hose on the truck and dribble wash solution in stream and it will foam on truck.

you should try 3Ms ultrafina 3000 swirl remover. the part number at oreillys is 06068. they also sell a blue foam polishing pad to go with it if you dont have access to any high quality pads

Check out the intermediate swirl removal kit from autogeek.net. It comes with the porter-cable random orbital buffer and all the necessary polishes.

The porter-cable is good because it poses nearly zero risk to your clear coat, because it won't heat up the paint/clearcoat like a rotary buffer.

It works miracles and I used it on dark blue.

With the kit, you can't go wrong. Pinnacle polishes work really well.

Good luck.

you need a very light cut compound and pad......you also need the spinning motion of a rotary and some rpm......orbital buffers wont remove swirls permenantly

Msparks is right, most orbitals wont permanetly remove the swirls. I spent 15 years as a painter and will tell you the best thing in the world for swirls is experience. I have a great system I use on black and I could explain it all day long but it wouldnt help if you havent had any time behind a polisher. There are a lot of swirl remover products out there but most just fill in the swirls for a few washes. Remember there is a difference between swirls (the marks caused by a polisher) and angel hair or cobwebs (the marks caused by washing).
