How often to wax?

I go threw the auto car wash (no touch) fairly often. Once a week if it has rained, snowed, hit mud puddles whatever. I detailed my truck about 6 weeks ago and have noticed that the water no longer beads.
Do I need to re-wax it? Is the car wash soap so harsh that it is striping the wax off?

What wax did you use when you waxed it?

If it's not beading anymore, I'd wax it. That soap at your car wash may be pretty harsh. I'd wax every few months unless it's not beading, then wax when it stops beading. I got the "ICE" spray from Turtle Wax and it helps to keep the wax on. It's very easy to apply as well. I use it after every wash.

I would suggest getting a better wax. Sometimes what you can get at your local autoparts store or Wally World just doesn't do it. Try a professional detailer or Griots for a better quality wax. As far as how often depends on climate and your personal expectations.

Keep in mind that car washes recycle their water - it's not fresh clean tap water you may use @ home.

I dont like anything from Griots ...

Use a high quality wax, and stay away from car washes!!

define "better". Longer lasting, better glow, one that enhances metallics, etc?

most of the "better" waxes have almost zero durability.

Meguiars #26 is a good blend of durability and glow IMO

What spray on is everyone using. I just wax mine when it doesn't have that great red truck shine.

A spray would work for me?

I used to swear by Meguiars adn then I switched to Mothers. Now in my constant search for bigger and better I found Zaino. I used it my old truck and haven;t yet used it on the new one. It makes meguiars and mothers really look dull.
