Different sealants and waxes (last step products) give different shine qualities. LSP's shine qualities can be described as warmer, wetter, brighter. Some LSPs will make the paint appear darker. Some lsp's mute metal flake where others make metal flake pop. Carnuba waxes typically give the paint a warm glow. To see for your self how a sealant or wax makes the shine qualities different do one half of your hood with one product and the other half with another product. You can also test durability this way. A person may love one product on one color vehicle and may not find something else looks better on another color. Zaino does not typically give the warm glow associated with carnuba. Zaino is typically more of a bright shine. It is really personal preference. Zaino does last a long time, longer than any wax.

I'll 2nd moody6.7's Zaino suggestion. Zaino lasts longer than any product I've ever tried... and I've tried a LOT. Ask my wife! My opinion is that you can't buy anything in Wal-mart that will provide 6 months of durability. I use Zaino on my black TDI in June and December. It still beads water like crazy 6 months after I put it on, and it still looks great. People often accuse me of waxing my car every other weekend. I'm pretty picky about how my car looks... but I'm not that anal about it.

Do you feel that the durability of Zaino that is overrated? I have not found anything that is more durable. I do not think Zaino is the easiest product to work with but the question was about durabilty.

I think it is all together over-rated. The durability is good ... but not "over the top" for me. And no ... its not the easiest product to work with ... thats forsure!!

wax vs polish
Has anyone heard of wax actually baking in the hot arizona sun and causing more problems than not having any protection?

Exactly ... Once the residue is buffed away ... no amount of heat will cause damage ... if anything, it will just wear down faster, but no ill effects at all
