DIRTY Wheels

I need some advice with cleaning my eagle alloys, products, techniques, anything.. Brake dust, grime, a little rust. Trying to get them to shine again.

i use mothers polish and the power ball Mini. I just finished cleaning mine. I had my truck at the beach and its been sitting for 3 weeks now and hasnt been washed. (its sitting at a friends garage undergoing mods). Well sand and saltwater do a number on Aluminum rims. I got 3 looking good, but one i think i may have to remove and go at it longer or see if i can get it warrantied. Its like sandpaper. but mothers did do a great number on what it used to look like.

Look into Wolfgang MetalWerks ... Wool pads are the only way to go for any type of correction.

The powerball is great for normal cleaning, light polishing ... but it isn't made for correction

I swear by formula 81 degreaser on wheels, it comes in a black bottle. doesnt strip any clear coat or finish on the wheel. use that in combination with a pressure washer, effortless shine.

I used a angle grinder, but I put a buffing wheel for a bench grinder on it. Works a 100 times better than the mothers powerball..... I can actually see my self in my rims. To be honest it looks like I put new rims on the truck and all my buddies asked me how in the heck I got them so clean.

An actual buffer with a wool pad would work better. Or a drill with wool pads.

The powerball is great for polishing & cleaning ... but correction will require more than the powerball

to get the best results use a grinder like they have said before me. Use a white or red jewelller rouge bar I have the best resulets with white but if your wheels are in bad shape start with red and then go to white I a trucker and have polished a few wheels in my time
