In another thread, where a fellow asked about removing sap from his paint you made the statement:

"Then you can ethier polish/final polish and do some paint correction (ie: remove swirls, scratchs, micro-marring, etc) and re "jewel" the paint"

Would you mind giving a bit more detail? For example, what technique do you use to remove swirls, scratches and micro marring.

What is micro marring exactly?

And what is "re-jeweling" the paint and how is this accomplished.

Thanks in advance.

Wow ... A whole thread dedicated to me ... I feel loved ...

Anyways ...
As far as removing swirls, light scratches, micro-marring, etc ...

It is different steps of polishing ...
Polish type and brand is really color dependant, car dependant, etc. Where one particular product will work great for "x" car ... another will be best for "y" car.

The absolute best polish that I have found and use (for all colors, etc.) is Menzerma products (from germany)

They have different grades (like all polishes) for your different needs.

Depending on how bad the area is that you are trying to correct, you can use different products, and different pad combinations.

Menz IP, SIP, & FP are going to tackle most jobs with the right pad combination.

Micro-marring is just that ... Micro ... Light hazing, spotty looking marks etc.

After you use a polish ... you will need to "re-jewel" the paint. Although some products (with the right pad combination) will finish down to LSP ready (if you are good enough), I still like to use a Final Polish, to "re-jewel" the paint surface.

Basically, after polishing, there will be some light "micro-marring" or light "hazing" left behind, even though the majority of swirls, scratchs, etc have been removed. When switching over to a Final or Finishing polish, with a polishing, or finishing pad (depending on what you polished with, ethier a cutting pad, or polishing pad) will "re-jewel" or bring back the super clear & depthness to the paint, and makes the paint surface 100% ready for your LSP (last step process) ie: wax or sealant

Any other questions ... Feel free to ask!

-Mike
