I use Meguiars.

1) Clay bar once a year, depending on how rough things feel.
2) Paste Wax every 3 months or so.
3) Detailer after every wash.

Here is a good primer on clay: Detailing Clay Bar - Car Paint Cleaning | Detailing How-to Guide

A California water blade and duster are nice tools to keep around as well.

thats a pretty vague question, as there is no best polish for ALL applications.

I use a few brands (Meguiars, Optimum, Menzerna), but I would say Menzerna is the best overall brand, and supposedly 3M Ultrafina is a great finishing polish

You know what ... Im totally ashamed of you!! ... How could you NOT post the write-up that I did on clay and put on here ... Jeeze ... some people!!

As far as the Cal. duster/water blade. The duster will cause some light swirls/mirco-marring, so be careful with that. The Cal. Water Blade is what I use on windows ... its fantasic for glass!!

The best thing to do with dust is a quality MF and a quality QD

Now ... as far as polishes/waxes go ... thats a loaded question. It depends on paint condition, what machine (if any) are being used to apply, color, clearcoat hardness, etc. etc. etc.

I use Menzerma, Pinnacle, Poor Boys as far as polishes and waxes. The only wax that I do use that you can buy at a local store is Megs Tech Wax 2.0. It is a decent wax, and the price is cheap compared to the high end waxs that I use (Pinnacle Souveran is my favorite wax, and is $80+)

Check out the stickies that I have written up and posted about different detailing steps, and if you have any other further questions, please feel free to ask!

Mike,

Can you explain what you mean by quality MF and quality QD? Does MF stand for MicroFiber? What does QD stand for? I just want to find out how to remove dust from my black truck instead of washing it every other day...

White trucks.

I deliberately bought a white truck for lower maintenance. Two times a year with Finish 2000 and minor claybaring and I'm done. Next truck will be the bronze/beige color. Even less work.
