Clay Bar

Well Yesterday I finished using the Meguires Clay bar on my truck and I have to say WOW. Even the wife noticed a difference. Not sure if any of you have tried this, put you just use their spray quick detailer, mist the truck section you are working on and they gently rub the clay bar on the surface, it picks up all the little small specks of tar and sap and other things really hard to get off and leaves a super smooth finish. Before I started though I went over the truck with a cleaner wax first to try and clean it the best I could. I was absolutely surprised at how much this clay bar took off. Truck is gleaming. Bought the kit a canadian tire for 26$. Well worth it. It took about an hour to go over the whole truck with it. Last year I spent about 2 days trying to get every little speckle off my truck. For those looking the small details that count, this one works.

P.S. Now it's raining outside, can't take the shiny truck out

I used it on my old Avalanche before I traded it in for the Cummins, I was equally impressed. Got full value for the 'lanche because of it.

I got introduced to the clay bar process about ten years ago by a fellow I worked with at the time and I will agree with you it works amazing. For a quick job I will just do the horizontal surfaces (Hood, roof, bed rails). Try running your finger tips over it before and after...you can feel the difference it makes.

Yes I agree I have done it to the silver bullet but I wish I had enough time to do it as many times as I should

This Question is Kinda off topic, but for you clay-bar know it all's, will the clay-bar have an equal effect on my nice, black Snap-On Tool box?

i have then thinking about waxing it but then i read in the detail section that waxing will just trap the contaminents in if i don't use a clay-bar first. What do you think?

Clay bar will strip the contaminants off the paint and also remove the wax as well, so I can't see how waxing first would trap anything. As long as your Snap-On tool chest has a glossy finish it should be alright to try, but I can't see a real need for it. Most of the stuff we are trying to remove it fall-out of some sort from sitting outside. Let us know how it works.

There are many different types of clay bars ... Colors will differ from company to company, as well as type of clay

I got mine at autozone or something like that. I was beyond impressed with the job it did on my truck. Followed it up with a miguires nx2 (i think thats it) wax....it was amazing looking. Smooth as silk and shinny as the day it came off the show room floor

If you are in Denver, CO, you can get some at Detailer Paridise on Broadway, but I think that autozone or checkers should have it, if you find any yellow let me know
