Finally bought what I needed

Well, I finally did it... I bit the bullet and bought everything to detail/restore my paint. Here's what I ordered:

Flex Orbital Dual-Action XC3401VRG

Pads = 1-Green 1-Orange

Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut M10512

Meguiar's M205 Ultra M20512
Finishing Polish

Meguiar's M21 Synthetic M2116
Sealant

FLeX Foam 6.5" Finishing ADX36-755
Pad

I did a lot of research and the Flex seems like the best out there...

I will use the orange pad with the M105, the green pad with the M205 and the black pad with the M21.

What do you guys think?

haha... will do. It's got some scratches, my dumb @ss cleaned the rubber from warming the tires at the track off the quarter panels with a scrub brush. That area will be a good one for a before and after...lol The paint has never been sanded or polished that I can tell, the factory orange peel is very evident. The store emailed me to say everything will ship on Monday so hopefully I will do it later in the week.

Win, lose or swirl, I'll post pics.

Ok... So I'm not punctual...but I finally used the Flex on my truck. I didn't take any before pics, but here's a couple of after ones:

I think it came out great. The really deep scratches are still there, but way less noticeable and the surface scratches are history. I couldn't be happier with the investment in the Flex buffer.

What??

Didn't Einstein say something about time and space being relative?...hehe!

Seriously, thanks for the feedback. The compounding was a pain in the @ss, but the polish and sealant were a breeze!

Cool...

I bought everything from Auto Detailing Solutions in Chandler AZ.

Auto Detailing Solutions -- Meguiar's Car Wax, Auto Polish & Detailing Supplies Store

They recommended the 3 step method using Ultra Cut to compound the paint, Ultra Finishing Polish to polish it and the Synthetic sealant to seal it.

(1) I started by doing a big time scrub job including all the road tar and stuff behind the wheel wells.

(2) Next I used the orange pad and the Ultra Cut with the Flex on small areas at a time spreading it on #2 and compounding on #5 settings. I worked the buffer in an overlapping grid pattern until I had completed five or six passes. Then wiped the residue with a clean microfiber towel.

(3) I did the exact same thing as step #2 with the Ultra Finishing polish and the green pad, but noticed it was MUCH easier to apply and control the buffer. Then wiped the residue with a clean microfiber towel.

(4) I used the buffer to apply the sealant with the black pad using a liberal amount and working it in on the first pass and lighter on the last pass or two - after it dried, wiped it with a third microfiber towel. The sealant was very easy to remove and left the surface super slippery.

I had never done anything like this before and was a little concerned about doing it on black paint. The truck came out great with no swirl marks or any other goofs.

If I can do it, anyone can.

I'm going to order the whole kit, it looks to be a good deal for the polisher and everything else to, i have a little bit of swirl marks, since my truck is a dark color they show pretty good and drive me nuts, so we'll see what happens!
