gas to cummins
I have a 1991 1 ton dodge 4x4. Has np435, np 205 and dana 60s f+r. The problem it it has a 360 in it. what would it take to put in a gen 1. I found a running truck with one for $750. wondering if worth my wild? The truck I found has 220,389 miles on it.

If you can get the whole truck that would make it easier, and would beat the he!! out of that 360 gas gussaler.

[quote=HRDROKN;824137]Not a hard swap... especially if you have a complete doner truck. I would recommend that you use the Cummins running gear though.... The Cummins won't like the 4spd, unless you run some ultra tall gears in the diffs! ] Thats funny because I was planning on putting a gear-vendors over drive/gearspliter on it and 37,s. Right now it has 35s and the diffs have 4,10s. The problem I am having if finding a adapter plate for the cumminns to np435. I did some searching but no luck. The old truck is a 89 and automatic if that matters. thanks . |

Also keep in mind how much torque you intend on making... not sure what the gear vendors max torque rating is and your D60 rear is already marginal. A D60 that is built up with 35 spline axles and a girdle might hold up in none towing applications with a Cummins, but anything more and you need to use a D70 or D80.
