5.9 Cummins conversion - 06 Ram SRT10

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post. I am looking to build another truck for my shop...now it's time to put a real engine in to my daily-driver 8.5mpg 2006 Dodge Ram SRT10 QC!

My goal is to make it as seamless as possible. i.e. I want my speedo, abs, etc...etc...to function as they do now.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Cheers

just my thoughts but i'm not sure if the front end of one of those will hold the weight of the cummins, but i've been wrong before.

I'll look into total weight of the 5.9 cummins vs the 8.3 V10 gas currently in the truck. I don't think the front end will be a problem. I'm more concerned with wiring up an 03-06 5.9 in my 06 truck.

youd be better moving the body off the srt onto a cummins truck

Exactly my thoughts! Bumpers/hood/wing/ground effects is a lot easier than the heavy engine...

I think all these guys are haters. Racindually is doing it to his. I would think that the suspension could be modified to hold the extra weight. Really all I would think you might need are heavier front springs and maybe heavier drag link and tie rod ends. I wouldn't be afraid to do it. My corvette's front end holds it so I would think the 1/2 tons frame would. Besides do you guys think the pro street diesel 1/2 ton trucks run the big heavy 3/4 and 1 ton suspension? They don't, the ones I have seen are all 1/2 tons.

OK, take an SRT10 and replace the front suspension with 2wd 3/4ton suspension... Either way, the susp. will have to be upgraded to handle it.

How would you "modify" the suspension to handle it? How much money would you throw at it when a reasonably cheap solution is easily obtainable?

There is a difference between being a hater and being realistic. Don't be a hater yourself.

Want my 2 cents it would be easier just to sell your truck and buy a new one you can buy the bumper hoods and stuff If you want to stick with that then I would say to box the a arms or maybe find a aftermarket upgrade your looking at alot of work. Also to say but in some states you cant do a gas to diesel conversion without an approval then it has t pass the emissions test. So I would say just buy a new truck Cause its going to be hard to get rid of the Viper motor and get everything set in right for the truck.

the 1500 frame itself isnt even the same as the 2500...or at least it shouldnt be! if they are now-a-days then dodge has seriously messed up.
