85 F-250 Swap

hey all new here. im in the r and d phase of a cummins swap. i got a 1985 f-250 4x4 RCLB with a 5.0 EFI in it. i also have a c6 trans. can anyone offer up some info concerning if i can use my c6 since it is built by using a adapter plate and if so where can i get one. if i cant use the c6 what would be the best trans to use to make the build as simple and straight forward as possible. and the last question is where could i find engine mounts? im thinking of just buying an engine or getting an organ doner. any help and insight on this swap would be appreciated. thanks in advance

This should give you some info to start from...

1986 F250HD SCLB 4x4 / 91.5 6BT Conversion

This is the link to my Fummins build, in an 86, so all and all the exact truck you are going to be dealing with. There are going to be some differences in fuel systems with yours being the 5.0 EFI. I don't know what the ratios are inside the C6, but I am going to guess it would not be ideal behind the Cummins. I doubt it is going to hold up to the Cummins and I think it's gearing will be way too low. It would be more work, but I would consider converting to a manual. From there you have tons of options to work with. I don't know if DeStroked is going to have an adapter plate for your C6, but they would be the ones to check with, as they are pretty much THE name in adapters. I would highly recommend AutoWorld MT for your mounts. They make plates and awesome mounts (appear to be Energy Suspension) that are easy to install. You will have to remove your motor mounts, but then they will basically fall into place. Enjoy the build, they are a kick once you're done!

so should i look for an organ doner? i was just going to buy an engine and go from there. and would a clutch assembly that is stock to the truck work lets say if i put a 5 speed in it? and thanks alot for the link

It all depends really. If you can fun a donor with the pieces you are looking for that is great. If though you decided to go with a ZF manual trans you could locate an engine, find a trans and then run an adapter from DeStroked. If you go manual, you will need the pedal assembly and clutch system from a Ford of our vintage of course, not the Dodge. Personally, I used the clutch system in my truck and then attached the Dodge slave cylinder to my Ford system. I had a head start with my truck being a manual though. If you found a manual tranny Dodge donor, then the main piece of the puzzle would be the pedal assembly.

ok thanks alot Nova. im gonne order the engine mounts soon. and hopefully find a doner. if not it shouldnt be to much of a pain to go from scratch
