92 Chevy 3500 Crew Cab 4X4 5spd

I have been wanting to do this conversion for years. I just recently bought the truck which as of now is a 350/auto/2wd that I will be converting to 12v/5spd/4wd. The goal for the truck is to be a daily driver/tow rig. I want a very dependable, strong nice truck. I own my own machine/fab shop. So making mounts and other parts shouldn't be a problem. I am still looking for a donor so it may be awhile before I start on the engine swap. In the mean time I will be working on the 4wd conversion.

Any advice and/or comments will be greatly appreciated. I'll get pics up soon of the truck.

Sorry for no pics yet but been working my a** off on the truck. Before you get your hopes up this truck is a little rough. It was a custom conversion from the get go. It had running boards, extra body molding, ground effects, and a ton of other fiberglass bull**** on it. It has taken me a few evenings to remove all that sh**! I have purchased a whole front clip off a 98 mainly for the style of grille and also the hood that is on the truck has some cut outs that I have never seen done on a factory custom, so at least I have a decent front end. The truck body is actually fairly clean, no rust, just a few dings, but the paint is chipping.
Typical GM Summit White for this era of GM. Interior will be upgraded to 96-98 style bench seats. I have stripped two other 90's Chevy's for parts. I was able to accumulate clutch/brake pedal assy.,toolbox, bed rails, hideaway gooseneck setup, GM NV4500 w/ tc, 4l80e w/tc and two front frame sections with the IFS setup. I cut the frames just in case I may need them for some other project.

I had a couple leads on some dodge donor trucks but they have fell through. I have one more lead on a guy that supposedly has a few 12v's for sale here locally. I have to check into that and am also trying to locate a D60 front axle.

I will have pics after new year's. I promise.

Just purchased a 96 3500 SRW EXT CAB LB 4X4 on 12/28/09!!!! Also purchased a Miller 250 Synchrowave welding machine for the fab shop/my conversion projects.

So now I will be able to tig and heli arc after a little practice.

I plan on driving the donor for a month or two before disassembling it. I would like to see what fuel mileage it gets in the dodge and if there is any TLC it may need before it receives it's new home in the Chevy.

Man it really has been a happy holiday season for me. Oh yeah, also I proposed to my girlfriend of four and a half years.

Maybe now she will let me use her camera so I can post some pics.
