Oldest swap.

I checked out my friends cummins powered 85 chev dually the other day and he told me the swap was done in 1989.
When did these little gems first start jumping ship?
I will get some pics next week.

Well, the 1st trucks to get the 12v 6bt as far as I know where 89' which would have been on the road in mid 88'. That's enough time for 1 to get munched and end-up in something else.

i know a guy here in town that did a chevy in 85' or so with the tractor version of the 5.9L, then the cummins came out in the dodge and they started buying dodges and didnt bother to swap into chevys anymore

i remember an ad i seen a couple months ago that in the 80s their was a dealer option to get a cummins in the chevy i think their was a 4bt 6bt na and 6bt turbo
