Thank you all!

I agree with all your points, the TIB is an old system, the longevety shows the strength an reliability and Fords "don't fix what aint broken aditude". The platform is set (for now) as a stock ride height F350, I may move it around a little to accomidate for larger tires (even with the 5spd the 4.10 Corp is going to have the engine singing). The 14 was chosen for the reason Chase suggested and because the sheer # of gear sets available, not numericaly but volume. If I break it, finding another is a cinch. Also after seeing the damage done to the Dana 80 in the donor... well, it's time to gave the general a chance. I'll try to remember to snap a pic of the giant spider pin in 2 pieces b4 it gets hauled off.

I'm leaving the 4wd option open for the future but doubt it will ever reach that far. BTW spotted a mid 70's Dodge fire truck crew 4wd stepside today that might follow me home this weekend. It's a corpse but a solid 1.

Thanks for the shout out on my daughters ride as well, it's all she talks about now, I'm going to be building in on the other site though because it just seems poor taste here.

Thanks guys!

Also - nice score on the supercab!!!

so there's 2 things we disagree on. I'll take the corp 14 over the 70 for sure. If you want to know why - I'll post some pics of the d70 shafts my buddy kept breaking (500+ cubic inches and 42" tires will do that). He has yet to break a corp 14 axle....

And then we have lowering trucks - no thanks
Don't get me wrong the 14bolt is great but the center section is cast iron where as the 70 is cast steel. Mine and that one should be the HD version which he should have no problem with. I have seen failures in both axles under extreme conditions so it really is a toss up. I have a lifted truck and would never dream of lowering it. That said, I used to build air suspension systems and notch frames on mini trucks. Best ride you will ever get period. I like both but 4 out of 5 times I would have a stock truck to either of those options.

Got the bed chopped today, hope it goes back together as fast and easy

Steve, I keep forgetting to snap a pic of the cab mount, I'll try to remember my next early/off day.

I didn't realize you were extending the bed - cool deal. Is this because you couldn't find a good long bed - or what?

As for the mount - whenever you snap a pic is cool - I just want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. I have a 2wd front end sitting here in my shop and it's got decent towers on it.

I wasn't sure WTH you were talking about then I took another look at the pics. It really does look like I've cut a short bed in 2. Actually what you don't see is the 16" slice I cut out. I was fretting over the hack-job I did in the failing light and from the pic's it's near perfect. I took the slice from the center front portion for 2 reasons:
1. there was a dent in both sides in that spot.
2. I wanted to get rid of the front fuel door.

I have to say that I'm not optimistic about rejoining the 2, wish me luck!
