project cummins trail duster (ctd)

long story short i been wanting to do this swap for over 2 years now.

the truck 1979 plymouth trailduster

the engine 1994 cummins turbo diesel with 47rh with 277k on the odo. found it on craigslist for 500

i got dana 60's for the front and rear and a np205 for the tcase.

and from the looks of it im gona need new front springs

and need a new radiator core support that will house the hugenormous radiator and intercooler that i got off the parts truck

i did some measuring and i think im gona have to find the block adaptor for the 89-93 engine mounts. any one got the part number?

mod list
kill the kdp
4 inch exhaust
electric fan conversion
tune the pump up to 230hp

so what you guys think

i would but i have 0 fab skill. and i dont want the engine to fall out on me on the free way.

that and i want the engine mounts to sit on the cross member. with the mounts i have now they will either mount just behind the member or move the engine to far forward to mount the core support and using the 92-93 block mount allows me to use more of my factory stuff and save me money.

now i say this because im not the first or the last person to do this. a guy over on rcc did it to a 78 with the 93 ctd and use the factory mounts and it just bolted in

the 6BT and its engine mounts bolted up in the exact same holes that the 452 did - THAT was particularly nice.

Your going to need to bend the left side frame rail upper flange where the starter is going to be setting. The starter sets at a different angle with the second gen engine adapater. It will hit the frame.

If you look in the 1st gen for sale section you should be able to find someone parting out a 1st gen to get the engine mounting blocks from. FarmerFred was parting a 1st gen engine a while back.
